Halloween Caramel Apple Recipe
- 1 package chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 2 packages (14 ounces each) caramels
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 large apples, washed, dried, and room temperature
- 8 Popsicle or craft sticks
- 3 or 4 Butterfinger candy bars, crushed
- Butter a cookie sheet or line with buttered wax paper. Place sticks in apples and set aside.
- Melt chocolate chips and shortening in microwave safe bowel until melted and smooth. Stir every 30 seconds to keep from overheating.
- Heat caramels and water in another microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Stir and heat for 30-45 seconds more until melted and smooth.
- Dip apple into caramel mixture coating well. Place on baking sheet. Drizzle melted chocolate over the top and sprinkle with crushed candy bars. Refrigerate to set.
