Emotional...

Can't sleep, so I figured I would blog away my emotions. Every time I have some special occasion, I always think of my Grandmother, Nanny. Especially when it comes to children and family gatherings. Those are two things she loved and stayed devoted to no matter what. She was a woman of God and stood very firm of what she believed in. She always wanted to watch her Grandchildren grow up and have children of their own, but she never did. It is very hard for me to think about her and not cry- I miss her so much. I miss wiping her bright red lipstick off my cheek and making her instant coffee and  thinking I was getting picked on and a "slave". I miss it. I wish so bad she could have met Bentley, she would have loved to squeeze and kiss those cheeks as she did mine. I wished Hubs could have met her before she left us behind, she would have loved him and would be so happy to know that I found someone who will take care of me and love me for me. I miss her bossy little attitude and her gummy mouth-her dentures were to perfect and snow white **who needed them**?? I miss laughing at how she ate ham with no teeth, and her curly hair she always colored, I miss her southern accent, "Hey Debi, let's ride down to the Dollar store, so I can get me some new slippers." Little things that annoyed you so bad then, I miss now. All I have left is stories of her that don't do justice to knowing her. My Mama, Bentley and #2's Mamaw, is a lot like her. When I watch my Mom give and love to my Bentley, it reminds me of Ben and I sitting with Nanny in her recliner with her arms around us loving on us *smacking that red lipstick* and waiting to give us quarters for the ice cream man.

Thinking bout her so much tonight and wishing she was here to spend a special day with us. I've never met family that was like her. The woman didn't have much, but she made sure she was always there, even if $5 was all she could give. I can only tell Bentley and #2 to cherish your Grandparents because they won't always be here. Absorb each memory of them and just smile. When people speak of their Grandparents, I just smile. God gave me 16 years with her, and those 16 years are cherished in my heart. I just miss her and still love her with all of my heart. I came across her number in my phone earlier and all I wanted to do was just call it, but I couldn't do it. Knowing she is in a better place is exciting because I will soon see her again. I miss you Nanny.

Going to bed, sorry for the very emotional blog. Goodnight!

Friday Five Favs.

So Friday Five Favs is something new to the blog and haven't yet done. I am dedicating my Fridays to tell you 5 things that have been a blessing to me this week! Boy, don't I have some to share!

1. I signed up for a few things at Church Sunday to help with Ministry work! I am excited and blessed to be getting more involved in the Church and spending time with my Church Family!

2. Bentley started walking Sunday! He's been taking about 6-8 steps the past month, but Sunday and Monday, he decided to take off! He is still wobbly and falls every 10-15 steps, but he can actually walk (when he wants to) to places he wants to get to!

3. Had my OB apt Monday and baby is healthy! I'm blessed to have two healthy boys! He is head down and "locked in"-just waiting to dilate and efface! He is measuring a week early (Bentley did as well), but knowing the luck I have-he will be late...just like his BIG brother! I keep telling my self that I am more blessed to GAIN weight in this pregnancy than to LOSE weight...yeah, that isn't helping yet, LOL.

4. Took Bentley to the eye doctor yesterday and the Dr is wanting to wait another 3 months to decide on his eye. He is such a stinker though! He kept batting his eyes at the Dr and being to cute for his own good, LOL. I'm glad no quick decisions were made and blessed he isn't getting glasses (yet...)/surgery and letting God be the Dr...His timing is always right.

5. Went to the Podiatrist day before yesterday to get my ingrown toenails cut out. Now if you have ever had an ingrown toenail, you would think your world was crashing down on you! THEY HURT! As you read in my previous blog this week, I was actually looking forward to having them cut out! That consists of 4 shots in your toe and some deep digging to the root to cut them out. 30 minutes later and 2 toes feeling normal again, I feel pretty good-other than them being sore from being tugged on. I posted a picture just to show you how much the ingrown part grows in only 5 months!

Hope you guys have a wonderful day! I am baking cupcakes for my Diaper Shower tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend and see ya back Monday for 'Hubby Monday' :)

Can't Resist Thursday

Peach Cobbler.

If you are a Cobbler fan, you will LOVE Peach Cobbler! I enjoy making these as much as eating them! I would rather stick one of these things in my oven rather than burn a candle!

Serving 2

4-6 peaches.  It really depends on how much you want in there. Personally, the more the better for me.
1 cup of flour.
1 cup of sugar.
1 tbl. spoon of vanilla extract.
1 cup of milk.
4-5 tsp of butter.

  • Slice the peaches and lay in pan. The riper, the better.
  • Mix flour, milk, vanilla, and sugar in a bowl.
  • Pour mixture over the peaches.
  • Place a tsp of butter on each of the corners and middle of cobbler.
  • Bake on 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until cooked through.

Verizon...

Today was a wild and crazy day. Hope everyone else's day was less hectic than mine. The Hubs had to stay at work til almost noon for training, BLAH. I hate when he doesn't get to come home after work to see me and Bentley. The Bubs and I got up around 9:30 and started our day with breakfast. All was going great until my phone went.
My iPhone went nuts on me! Now it tends to do that from time to time, but this time it refused to let me make a call, text, or get online! It was enough to send me over the top. Had it not been that these stupid phones are like a million dollars to buy, I would have put that thing into a hundred pieces across our walls. Luckily, Christian, came home and stopped me from going  "Prego" on it. We decided to go to the apple store in the mall. We figured while we were out we would run around the mall and just spend some time together before my appointment.
Apparently it was Verizon who had dropped the ball. All their service in the Upstate was out for who knows how long! This is not the first time they have done this. Christian read back when the iPhone was going to make its debut with Verizon, that they were not going to be able to support the millions of people who were going to get it. The weekend they launched the iPhone, they lost all communications in the entire upstate and had no idea how long it would take to get back on. Needless to say the parking lot of VZW was SLAM PACKED!
We took one of my dresses back to motherhood maternity and exchanged it for an even prettier one. After that, we decided to go over to Stride Ride and get Bentley's foot sized. He wears a 7!!! He is only 13 months old! He has been trying so incredibly hard to walk, but we found a pair of shoes that helps him take off. While he was trying out the shoes, he tried to walk out the front door! It was amazing to see how much of a difference they make (Plus they are Clemson colors).
After the mall I had my appointment; my dreaded appointment. I go see my doctor and get my ingrown toenails cut out. The doctor had to give me 4 shots in each of my big toes and then went to town cutting the toenails out. It was not fun at all, but the relief I will be getting will be great. I am going to have the surgery done to eliminate them from ever coming back, just have to get finished with this pregnancy and then have the procedure done.
We headed to Walmart to pick up a few things before we go grocery shopping tomorrow. We made out a list/menu of what we are going to be having for the next week of meals, so we know exactly what to get tomorrow. Christian had lacrosse practice tonight, so while he played- Bentley and I had a picnic and watched his daddy.  He loved it! Bentley also had his wagon to ride in or push around. He was pushing it all over the place, I got a few great pictures of him being so sweet.  After sitting around, we went to the playground and swung on the swing 'til daddy was ready to go. He was completely worn out when we got home.
Well Bentley is sleeping, and I'm about done writing. I'm looking up recipes for the following weeks and updating my grocery list. This should be a fun and interesting task. Y'all all have a good night!

UNwelcomed...

Today has been a very slow, but fun day! Bentley and I played ALL day until he went to bed at 8 pm. This is his third day in a row 'almost' walking! He use to take about 6 steps, now it's about 15-20 steps! He gets so tickeld that he's walking, he relies on the ground to catch him! He's such a little stinker! How about this nice chilly weather that's been waiting on us when we wake up? It's Fall telling us that it is around the corner. I wish it would stay 58 all day instead of jumping to 90 by 10 am!

We have had UNwelcomed visitors at the house this past week and we don't know who invited them! Who's ever had ant problems? Well, we have obviously done something to attract those rascals and now we can't seem to get rid of 'em! No lie, we have thousands of them that go back and forth in a perfect line from one side of the garage to the other. Can you bomb them or what? I don't think over the shelf ant spray would kill them...Hubs killed them last night and thousand more came back! They aren't piss ants either, they are itty bitty fire ants! I am thinking about making some kind of poison sugar water to attract them, just don't know what's poisonous to them! The Hubs googled and tried finding a cure for the garage, but I'm assuming he didn't find anything good...knowing they are still there!

Tomorrow is my lucky day! I am going to the toe Doctor (or whatever you call it) and getting my ingrown toe nails cut out again! Between them and swollen pregnant feet, they hurt! I'm counting down the days to surgery to where I never have one again! These darn 'ol things are definitely hereditary passed down from my Dad. Me and my brother both got them from him and unfortunately they never go away!  My Diaper shower is this Saturday! I am excited! My best friend, Whitney, is hosting it-which is super exciting! I've never had a friend throw a shower for me, so I'm pretty thrilled! I am only asking for Huggie diapers and wipes, and gift cards.

Well, I'm hitting the sack! Ambien is finally in my system and I am seeing two screens. Ya'll have a good night and will blog at ya tomorrow!

Hubby Monday

So here we are writing another Hubby Monday. Its been quite some time since I  have written one of these. Well, where do I begin... For starters Bentley is 13 months, and is absolutely the most amazing child a father could ask for. We are now in the stage of his life when he wants to get his way, and he is almost at the point of walking. He needs to be walking since we are expecting our second baby!

We found out for sure a day after my birthday that we will be having our next son. Megan has been pregnant forever it feels like.  But let me say that she is by far the most beautiful pregnant mother, and has taken every bit of being pregnant absolutely wonderfully. She looks so great, and has been doing great in the pregnancy. I truly could not have asked for such an amazing woman to spend my life with, and raise my children.

After months of preparations I finally took my oath and swore into the South Carolina Army National Guard. I will leave for BCT and AIT at the end of Feb. next year. I will be gone for a total of 14 weeks with out seeing my family. It will be the hardest thing I will ever do. Leaving Megan and Bentley is hard enough just to go to work ever third day, but to leave her, Bentley, and .... Ha y'all thought I was going to say it. Until I leave for all that, I am going to spend one weekend a month in Anderson drilling with Bravo Company. My first drill was this weekend, and was it a new experience.

Formation is at 0730 Saturday and Sunday. Well Saturday I started my day off running 5 minutes late. Not a good start as it was. We went through formations, and drill and ceremony and the ever wonderful PT. Every one has to take a PT test which consist of push-ups, sit-ups, and a mile run. You have to do a particular number or repetitions to score high enough, and run the mile in a certain time. While practicing at home under the watchful eye of SGT. Megan, I was slightly weary about my push-ups and sit-ups. They actually turned out just fine, in fact more than fine. It was my mile run I honestly figured would not be that bad. Man, was I completely wrong. I'm about embarrassed to even tell this story, but a very valuable lesson was learned. Since I was running late I didn't have any breakfast that morning, nor had I been drinking enough water. I didn't have a water bottle or camel back. We started our run and I was off to a good start, my first quarter mile, 1:50, with that pace I would have been fine. I made my second lap and still thought I was good. I made my second turn, and that's when it hit me. The dehydration, fatigue, and lack of nutrients got a hold of me at one time and that's when I went down. I passed out, was taken inside to rehydrate where I sat for close to half an hour. After finishing shaking, I went to shower and fall back in to formation.

I realized at that point that I was not in the shape I used to be. I mean I knew I was badly out of shape, but that bad? It was quite embarrassing to say the least. We continued on the rest of the day with just paperwork and formalities that needed to be done. The next day wasn't as bad. I was able to rehydrate Saturday night, and when PT came on Sunday I was going to be ready. We ran what they call 30/60. 30 seconds of sprinting, and then 60 seconds of walking. We did this for almost an hour. As tired as I was, I made it throughout the whole alive. After that came more push ups and sit ups. We continued on the rest of the day finishing up what we hadn't gotten to Sat. and were out of there by about 1.

Overall it was a pretty interesting, and awesome experience. I learned more in two short days of drill than I figured i would have ever been able to. Joining the guard was a decision that did not come lightly. There are many serious commitments, even possibly deploying. The benefits of being in the Armed forces are tremendous though. The ultimate goal is to use the Guard to help me with my Med school. They have a program, and even if I was to leave to another school, they would pay for me to go through the program. There are really endless benefits.

Thanks for taking the time to read this Hubby Monday, and stay tuned for the future post from my adorably wonderful wife. Hope you all have a good night.

First Haircut.

We did it! Well, I guess I could say, "I did it!" Bentley got his first haircut Thursday and I am admitting it looks pretty good and he did so well! I was so scared of his "baby look" going away and looking like toddler-which it did, but I wanted the baby look to last forever. FOREVER! I understand he can't always look like a baby, but it was a huge step for me. I think the step was actually bigger than him turning ONE! Now that it's cut, he is even cuter and I can see his beautiful blue eyes! He no longer has a mullet 3 inches below his collar and I haven't yet to see him pull it when he get mad *maybe because it's short*! Here is a picture of his new little self.

I got a few reviews on my previous post about what I should redo about this blog or add to. I had a few people tell me to KEEP 'Can't Resist Thursday' and would still like to see 'Hubby Monday.' Also, I even had a friend of mine tell me to dedicate a blog to all the animals the Hubs and I have had...thanks Pam, LOL! I actually may do that! Would that include strays we have picked up too?

My parents are over right now-I am cooking them a delicious pasta, garlic bread, cesar salad, and a peach cobbler for dessert! Only if the cheese would hurry up and cook through, we can eat! My brother begs for me to cook this dish, but I can only take so much of it. You can only have enough oil and vinegar at a time. SMELLS GOOD!

Bentley has turned into a little boss lately. We were at Academy Sports, there was a little black boy in a buggy fussing and being a little brat. Bentley was pointing his finger and telling him to "STOP!" Now I'm not one to laugh at kids being bossy or mean, but it was actually pretty funny! I actually have it on video. When Bentley kept telling him to stop, it only made it worse. Yes, people shouldn't let their children be butts and scream like little brats while they could careless and tend to themselves.

SO sorry this blog is random and jumps from topic to topic-I'm in a little hurry :)

I am hopping off to go check the food, but I will be reporting back tomorrow on my Hubs first day of drill. Please say a prayer for him! Nite ya'll!

Can't Resist Thursday

Croc Pot Lasagna

1 lb turkey meat (or you could use beef).
4 cups of mozzarella cheese.
15 oz of ricotta cheese.
Sauce.
Mushrooms.
Lasagna noodles.
1/3 cup of water.

Cover the bottom of the croc pot with raw lasagna noodles.
Mix 1/3 of water and 1 jar of sauce in a bowl. Layer sauce evenly on noodles (I used traditional).
Layer enough turkey meat to make it even.
Add some mushrooms if you would like.
Evenly layer ricotta cheese.
Even 2 cups of mozzarella cheese.

Redo these same steps until you are out.

Cook on high for about 4-6 hours.

Banjo.

As I am sitting here outside watching my Hubby clean out his car, MoJo (chihuahua) and Piper (the cat) are chasing each other all over the yard. The aroma of fresh cut grass is soothing and not to mention, very relaxing! So yesterday we added another addition to the family, Banjo. He is AKC Golden Retriever and is the the finishing touch to the animal family. I have been looking for a Golden Retriever for most 3 years and I've been waiting very patiently for a cheap or free one come along. Yes, I'm a cheap person, but when the time was right-he would come. I'm not all about paying $500-800 for a dog...that's just nuts, so I finally found one on craigslist. I must say that my waiting paid off because I couldn't be any happier. Bentley loves him as well and MoJo...well, MoJo will always be MoJo, LOL. We took him up to my parents today to play around while the Hubs and I moved horses and he did so well! You would never know he stayed in a kennel-he was the perfect "farm" dog, haha!

Tomorrow the Hubs is on shift which stinks. This is his first week out of class (until next week) and I LOVE it! Bentley and I love spending every second we can get! Bentley seems happier since he's home when not working, although, Hubs says he is to young to feel that way-I know differ. I hate thinking about him leaving in February, it's depressing. I honestly don't know how I am going to do it, but all Military families do it. *Change of subject*

So how was your day other than it being hot! It has finally cooled off since I've been sitting outside, it's nice and breezy! It gives me the impatiently itching for Fall! I bought 4 Fall candles tonight and can't wait for them to be in the mail! By the time they arrive, it should be time to decorate for Fall! Whoo Hoo! What's your favorite season?

I've been thinking about my bloggy days and what I should bring back and not. Should I bring back "Can't Resist Thursday" and "Hubby Monday"??? Any other ideas I could use? I would love your input because you are the one who inspires me to write and keep writing!

Hopping off and uploading a few pics to FB and then it's time to watch Teen Mom! You watch that show? What do you think about it all? I am obsessed with this season for some reason-maybe because there is nothing on TV anymore these days! Well, ya'll have a good night and I will see you back here tomorrow! Goodnight!

"I miss you blogging..."

After contemplating about blogging again, my Hubby finally said, "I miss you blogging." I knew that was a sign that I needed to start it back up. How did I get so far behind? It use to be something I had to do every day! That's why I'm back, I miss it! Since the last time I posted, Bentley, turned ONE, I'm expecting again (36 weeks), and the Hubs has joined the South Carolina Army National Guard. Those are 3 HUGE steps that all happened from February to now. God has big plans for this family and nothing is slowing down right now. We finally moved into our own home again and are very happily settled. We are almost ready for baby number 2-the unpacking from Bentleys baby stuff is taking weeks to do!
I have ENJOYED staying at home with Bentley and doing what mommies do. Although, I don't have many friends to hang out with or do many play dates anymore-we still manage to have fun! I have been waiting on the day for Bentley to take off and start running around, but I think he is too comfortable with crawling and hanging on to stuff! He will take about 4-5 steps, but that's about it...kinda lazy, LOL.
The count down is on until September 1st, so I can put Fall decor up, but it seems to me slowly creeping up on us. I do have my Bath & Body scents plugged in and candles burning, but it just doesn't feel like fall. I want to see dead leaves on the ground and pumpkins, LOL! I guess I have a while for that! I hope you are as excited as I am about starting the blogging back up! I'm going to keep you short tonight, but I will see you back tomorrow! Have a good night and stay cool!
